Anantara Dubai - 2015 Archives

I surprised myself last year by rebooking into Anantara the Palm Dubai for a 2nd time running; I like hotel surfing so I don't usually stay at the same hotel twice in the space of 1 year; especially in Dubai where you have an array of luxury hotels to choose from.

How did i find my stay at Anantara the 2nd time round ?

If you missed my previous blog post on Anantara Dubai you can find it here . Anantara is a fairly new hotel (approx. 3 years old now) with a Thai villa vibe to it. Most of the villa rooms are surrounded by a sky blue lagoon and the general service is top notch; minus a few niggles here and there.
I stayed in a deluxe lagoon room which had direct access into the lagoon, perfect for hot summer days. On getting to the room we had a complimentary bottle of wine and some fresh fruits waiting for us as a 'welcome back to Anantara' gesture. Top marks for Anantara there.

I don't usually have negatives on luxury style hotels, but today I have a slight niggle. We arrived at the hotel at 2.15pm, with check-in at 3pm and our room still wasn't ready, we got a room just after 3pm and when we got to the room, an engineer had to be called out for a leak on the aircon. Epic fail to Anantara here.

Not much had changed since my last visit to Anantara, I felt the service was still adequate for a 5 star hotel minus the initial glitch above and Anantara now have a long tail Abra style boat which runs from the Palm Jumeirah to the Marina; a good way to explore the Palm and Marina region.

A few recent archived pictures of my stay at Anantara below, if you're looking for a decent 5* hotel in Dubai try the this Thai inspired luxury.

2016 Travel plans and 2015 in review

Happy New year!! can I still say that in February? My first blog post of the year is extremely late! but better late than never.

As with majority of you I've been hibernating this winter .... I wish.... I've been getting on with the day job in the world of investment banking and trying to find the right balance for my travel plans this year and also indulging in some yummy cookies from Sweetlayercake. You can see some of their yummy treats on the link here.

2015 in review

In 2015, I managed to explore some countries in Europe on my bucket list; I had Portugal on my list of places to visit, and I loved every minute of exploring the Algarve. See some of my Algarve reviews here . more on the blog.

I also ventured over to Paris, and all I can say is Paris je t'aime. If you missed my Paris reviews, see my Travel video diary here, plus there's more on more Youtube channel.

Next I explored some new areas in the Middle East and sampled some new luxury hotels in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. See my Dubai video diary here

Lastly, I had Geece on my list of places to explore last year but I did not find the right time to make it happen, so Mykonos has found its way to the top of my 2016 list.

I plan out most of my trips using the good comparison sites like, and so check them out for good comparison offers.

Where is Toluinwonderland heading to this year?

This year I will be exploring more of Europe. I did a review on some brand new hotels in Europe late last year and I'm planning on visiting some of the regions I researched.
These include Majorca in Spain,  Mykonos in Greece and because I've fallen in love with France, it has once again made it to my 2016 Travel list.

I will also be exploring Bangkok, Phuket and Koh Samui in Asia and I'm really looking forward to visiting Asia.
I will be sharing more about the culture and food on my blog; and as a Thai food lover, I'll be eating everything, from the spicy coconut curries to the yummy Thai fish cakes.

Also, if I can make the time to visit the Middle East this year, I would love to see Oman or Abu Dhabi again.

I hope you've all had a great start to the new year. Apologies for the late post, life happens when we're busy making plans and just like that we've reached the end of January and February is in full motion! Hope you've had a great start to the year.

Loads of exciting plans ahead this year for ToluInWonderland!  I'll be moving my blog over to Squarespace so I've been working hard to make it all come together. The html struggle is real !!
