Brand new hotel in Paris - Melia Paris La defense

My wanderlust recently took me to Paris for a few days, and all I can say is it was truly magical. From exploring the Eiffel tower, to the Louvre Museum and Champs-Elysee, it was all so jaw dropping.

We stayed at the lovely Melia Paris La defense in the financial district of Paris; the equivalent of Canary wharf in London, despite this hotel being a business hotel, it catered well for both business and leisure travellers.

We stayed in a Melia Premium double room which was big enough for 3 people with an extra bed; our room also had distant views across Paris and the Eiffel tower. Seeing the Eiffel tower glowing at night was magical, even from a distance.

Melia bathroom accessories, they smell so nice.

Kettle vs Nespresso machine - Not really fussed either way, they both do the job.

The hotel has a gorgeous exterior, which comes with picnic benches and a water play area

I was pleasantly surprised with the Breakfast at the hotel, I have stayed at a few hotels in France, and I have to say breakfast in France is usually sparse, Melia surprisingly had a really good spread, they had everything you could think of including an egg making station where you had eggs made to order.

The hotel also has a gym, which I didn't make use of on this trip and also a lounge for drinks and canapes.

Next to the hotel is one of the biggest malls in Europe, Les 4 Temps / CNIT mall which is about 10 minutes walk from the hotel; It has everything from high street brands like zara, sephora and hm to high end restaurants, we dined here a couple of times and the food was reasonably priced. The Grande Arche is also directly opposite the mall.

Melia hotel is in very close proximity to the centre of Paris. Before arriving in Paris, I had initially planned an itinerary which included using uber to get around from La defense to the center of Paris. On the first day I gave the Metro a try and from then I never looked back. The Metro is directly opposite the hotel; its quick and also very cheap compared to London prices :-)

My only downsides are; this particular Melia hotel does not come with certain perks that you get in other Melia hotels such as complimentary water in the bedrooms or help with your luggage to/from the bedrooms; and the staff at reception sometimes seemed a bit overwhelmed with queues while answering guests at certain times.

Would I stay here again, without a doubt Yes, it's in a lovely location away from the hustle and bustle of Paris, but yet still close enough; the breakfast at Melia is superb and its also close to transport links, plus we got an extra bed complimentary; whats not to love.

Watch out for my next blog post to see what we go up to in Paris. We literally saw almost everywhere in 72hrs.
